
Biography – Ole Christian Haagenrud (b. 1989)
Ole Christian Haagenrud is today regarded as one of Norway’s most sought-after young pianists. He was educated at the Norwegian Academy of Music, where he completed his postgraduate diploma under the guidance of Professor Jens Harald Bratlie and Professor Håvard Gimse.
He has also recently completed his participation in ArtEx (Artist in Excellence), Talent Norway’s programme for outstanding performers.
Haagenrud made his debut at the University Aula in 2014, the same year he received the prestigious Robert Levin Festival Prize. As a soloist, he has performed with a number of professional symphony orchestras, including the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, and the Belarus Chamber Orchestra, and has collaborated with conductors such as Georg Mark and Lawrence Foster.
His concert activities have taken him to some of the world’s most renowned venues, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Brahms Saal at the Musikverein in Vienna, Shanghai Concert Hall, the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., the Great Guild Hall in Riga, the Stephaniensaal in Graz, the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Hall in Vilnius, the Slovenian Philharmonic Hall in Bratislava, and Casa da Música in Porto.
As a chamber musician and accompanist, Haagenrud is in high demand. With his international piano trio, Vilos Trio, he participated for several years in the renowned ECMA programme (European Chamber Music Academy) in Vienna.
Since 2015, he has also been a member of the artistic board of Nesset Musikkfest, which takes place annually in Eidsvåg in Møre og Romsdal.
